Here is a speculation regarding the near future assuming that my history theory is correct and that I have applied it correctly. We are fast approaching a soft breakpoint. The standard metaphor for this sort of breakpoint is a watershed or local maximum in a mathematical function. There will not be a real observable discontinuity, but we will be entering a new persio starting probably in January 2007.
In the next five years we (human civilization) will start using a new way of determining truth. It will be global in operation and profoundly anti-partisan. It could be the death-knell of Islam, which as it is presently constituted is based on partisanship.
Our present period is a period of decision. A possible indication of what ythe decision is may be the revolutionpoint previous to this age. The revolution point for an age is one quarter of an age before the previous age ends. For example, the industrial revolution happened in 1769 even though the industrrial age (G) ran from 1825 to 1937. Thre previous age was the federal age 1601-1825 which lasted 224 years. One quarter of 224 years is 56 years. 1825 - 56 = 1769.
The revolution point for the internet age (1993-2021) was 1979 ( = 1993 - 14 years). Two revoutions happened about that time. One was the extablishment of USENET. The other was the Iranian Revolution. The current period is the internet age decision period (1/2000 - 1/2007). The nature of the revolution of 1979 may mean that the advancementdecision is for the Internet, and the decline decision is for Islamic fundamentalism. (Another possibility is that Islam is simply a system that consumes old and failing regions and that it will soon engulf Andalusia. I hope not).
Looking at our first decision period that decided on decline, the Roman age (416 BC - 196 BC) did not advance into an industrial age. Instead declined. So the decision period was 360-304 BC and the revolution point was 416 + 112 = 528 BC. The closest relevant events to this were the early military moves of the Persian juggernaut which would soon conquere Babylon (Daniel and the writing on the wall). This was probably the decline revolution. And the enlightenment of Buddha. This was probably the advance revolution.
The reason why the Persian advance was the decision for decline was that Persia would bring into being a strongly anti-Federalist political system which would prevent most of the political and societal advances that the Coming Federal age could have offered. Federalism was the core of the advance in the coming age but it did not happen. Persia was at this point (528 BC) building a system I call Pharoahonic Imperialism. Although Darius was not a Pharoah by title, he created himself as a god-emperor. During the decision period (360 - 304 BC) Greece joined Persia's system by conquering it, drawing Egypt in along with it. This threw off the balance of power and essentially left Syracuse, Greek Italy, Carthage, and Rome in too small a pool to maintain a balnce of power. As a result Rome eventually controlled almost everything. This was not Federalism.
The modern equavalent revolution point to the Roman age) for the Federal age was 1601 - 112 = 1488. whch is very close toDiaz rounding the cape (advancment revolution) and the expulsion of the Jews from Spain (decline revolution). Advancement won this time.
